Obituary

Retired Captain W. F. "Bill" Rooks, age 69 of Temple, Georgia died Thursday, May 24, 2012. He was born in Carrollton, Georgia on May 11, 1943, the son of the late Uriel F. Rooks and Mary Baskin Rooks. Captain Rooks retired from the Georgia State Patrol after serving for 32 years. He patrolled the Northwest Georgia area of Villa Rica, Calhoun and Cedartown. He was Past Master of Villa Rica Masonic Lodge, York Rite Bodies 2nd Degree, member of Yaarab Shrine Temple, and District Line United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Debra S. Rooks; daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Mitchell Cash of Bremen; grandchildren, Andrew McInvale, Alyson McInvale; brother, Allen Rooks of Carrollton and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Sunday, May 27 at 2 o'clock at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Wesley Forrister and Rev. Terrell McBrayer officiating. Music will be by Terry Shadrix. The Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the active and retired Georgia State Patrol. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Carroll Memory Gardens with the Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard providing honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to District Line United Methodist Church, 3044 Morgan Road, Bremen, GA 30110 or Tanner Hospice, P.O. Box 1136, Carrollton, GA 30112.
