Obituary

Mrs. Reba Cooke Parson, 74, of Old Muse Road, Carrollton, passed away January 17, 2010. Mrs. Parson was born in Temple , GA on December 30, 1935, the daughter of the late Ralph W. Cooke and Nellie Huckeba Cooke. Mrs. Parson's worked as an Internal Auditor at West Georgia National Bank before moving to Carlsbad, New Mexico. She loved her family and encouraged all the nieces and nephews, and made gifts for them using her sewing talent making dresses, blankets and quilts. Mrs. Parson hosted foreign students in their home for a number of years, and was their "mama" while they lived here. She once flew to Nicaragua for one of the girl's wedding. Mrs. Parson attended Shady Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include her devoted husband of fifty-five years Billie F. Parson, daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Keith Skinner, daughter-in-law, Elaine Parson; grandsons, Jonathan and Christopher Parson, granddaughter, Katie and grandson-in-law, Ben Teel, great granddaughter, Memphis Teel all of Carrollton, brothers and sister-in-laws Rev. Fred and Ruth Cooke of Roopville, David and Janice Cooke, Michael and Janice Cooke, and Rev. Kerry and Debbie Cooke, all of Carrollton, sister-in-law, Lorene Cooke, and a number of nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her, son Timothy Parson, and brother, Alan Cooke. Memorial services will be Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Cooke officiating. Music will be provided by Kevin Cooke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. In accordance to Mrs. Parson's wishes, her body was cremated. The family suggest's that memorial contributions be made to Altus Healthcare & Hospice, 151 N. Bayview Drive, Villa Rica, GA 31080.
