Mr. Zellie Morgan, 88, of Sandhill- Shady Grove Road, Carrollton, GA passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Mr. Morgan was born in Carroll County on February 28, 1922, the son of the late Leon Davis Morgan and Eugenia Jordan Morgan. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy where he was stationed in Wildwood, NJ as an instrument flight instructor. Mr. Morgan was an active member of the Carrollton Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter #976 where he participated in providing first flights for 100's of children over the years in the Young Eagles Program. He was a retired engineer at Lockheed Aircraft for 35 years and member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife and best friend of 65 years, Madelyn Shackleford Morgan, daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David Little of Bremen, sons and daughters-in-law, Davis and Ann Morgan of Carrollton, Barry and Lisa Morgan of Stamford, CT, grandchildren and spouses, Sgt USMC Caleb and Kelly Little, Lance Cpl USMC Seth Little, Doctors Sara and Andy Clark, Katie and Blake Mobley, Amy Morgan, Mary and U.S. Air Force 2nd Lt Justin Shadrix, Liam Morgan, Cecelia Morgan, Fiona Morgan, great grandchildren, Madelyn Morgan Clark, and Eleanor Jane Clark. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 1 at 2 PM from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Jerome Mitchell officiating. Pallbearers will be Gene Gillespie, Steve Forbis, Jerry Lassiter, Randy Wallace, Jerry Latimer, and Ricky Jiles. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shady Grove Baptist Church Family Life Center, 1293 Sandhill- Shady Grove Rd., Carrollton, GA 30116. Interment will be in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with American Legion Post #143 making the flag presentation. Almon Funeral Home of Carrollton in charge of arrangements.
