Peter Michael (Mike) Denney, age 75, died at his home in Canton, Georgia in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 25, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Bernard and Alene Denney and his sister, Cheryl (Lynn) Denney. He is survived by his wife, Laura Falin Denney, his sister, Lori Denney Welden, brother in law, Steve Welden, niece, Sarah Welden Shuemake and her husband, Adam Shuemake and grandnephew, Tristan Shuemake. Mike was a life-long resident of the state of Georgia having lived in Toccoa, Carrollton and Roberta, Georgia. The majority of his life was spent in the Metropolitan Atlanta area. He graduated from Chamblee High School and attended technical school in Americus, Georgia. He was an avid outdoorsman and a founding member of the Knoxville Hunting Club in Crawford County, Georgia. Mike was a voracious reader and lover of American History. He also was a bit of a "cat whisperer" who socialized a number of feral cats. The family would like to thank the Kaiser Permanente Oncology Team and their Palliative Care Team, Bristol Hospice and Trinity at Home Care who were so very kind, considerate, helpful and supportive. Laura would especially like to thank Lori and Steve for their help in the latter days of Mike's life and the friends and family who were providing emotional and spiritual support throughout. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A graveside service and entombment will be Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Carroll Memory Gardens at 2 p.m. with Pastor Neil Awbrey officiating.
