Ms. Maureen Jenks, better known to her friends as "Jenks", of Terry Terrace, Carrollton died Wednesday, July 28, 2010. She was 76. Jenks was born June 19, 1934 in New Britain, Connecticut. She graduated in 1952 from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in Salisbury, Connecticut. Jenks was voted class clown of her senior class. After High School she enrolled at Henry W. Bishop, III Memorial School of Nursing. She graduated in 1956 obtaining her Registered Nurse Degree. She immediately joined the U.S. Air Force in January of 1957. Jenks served as a Nurse Anesthetist for 12 years, obtained the rank of Major and was honorably discharged in December of 1969. In 1969, she moved to Carrollton, Georgia and worked as a R.N./ Nurse Anesthetist at Tanner Medical Center for 14 years. Jenks is survived by many special friends in the community. She was preceded in death by dear friends, Dottie Findley and Jimmy Colvin. Also, three of her precious canine companions Mikie, Freddie and C.C. preceded her in death. No service is planned but those wishing to honor the life of Jenks may make a memorial contribution to the Carroll County Animal Shelter, 251 Automation Drive, Carrollton, GA 30117 or to any Women's or Children's home.
