Mary Boggs passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at the age of 60 after a courageous seven-year battle with breast cancer. She was born and raised in Iowa by Marvin and Jessie Kannegieter who both predeceased her. She moved to Carrollton, GA in 1987 with her first husband and two daughters, Elisabeth and Rebecca. As a single mother, she began her collegiate education while simultaneously working as a teaching assistant. After graduating with her B.Ed., Mary became a special education teacher in the Carrollton City School system for almost 26 years, impacting the lives of many children. She continued her education, earning her M.Ed. and Specialist degree in special education. She met her husband Greg Boggs at Tabernacle Baptist Church. They joined their two families in 1996. Mary loved to spend her time with her family, at the theater with friends, and watching classic black-and-white films. When she and Greg were not at a lake on the weekends, you could find her with her bunco club, her girlfriends the Boarder Babes, or browsing the QVC network, which owes one of its studios to her shopping. She also loved to volunteer with Girl Scout troop 50014 at Central Elementary School. You could hardly ever catch her without a book in her hand or learning a new recipe from the Food Network. She is survived by her husband Greg Boggs; her sister Judy Burr; her children Elisabeth Cobb, Rebecca Michalewicz, Emily Boggs, Joey Boggs, Angel Pitts, Christie Kingkade; and her grandchildren Jackson and Audrey Cobb, Edwin and Preston Michalewicz, Grayson, Garrett, Brantley, and Brayden Pitts, Madison, Brooklynn, and Christian Kingkade.
