Obituary

Mr. Marvin Williamson, age 83 of North White Street, Carrollton died Monday, February 13, 2012. Mr. Williamson was born in Carrollton, Georgia on August 7, 1928, the son of the late Merrill Williamson and Maude Cook Williamson. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, retired from Southwire where he worked in the Public Relations Department and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carrollton. Survivors include his sons, Steve Williamson and Alan Williamson; daughter, Beverly Fernander all of Carrollton; grandchildren, Jim Kelley, Crystal Kelley, Justin Weaver, Andrew Fernander, Hope Williamson and Avery Williamson and two great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Williamson and infant son, James David Williamson. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 15 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Davis officiating. Pallbearers will be Jim Kelley, Justin Weaver, Matt Simpkins, Joe Thompson, Craig Walker and Will Waddell. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ready Sunday School Class, Volunteers at the Carroll County Soup Kitchen, and members of the Carrollton High School Press Room and Trojan Room. Interment will be in the Carrollton City Cemetery with American Legion Post 143 folding and making the flag presentation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll County Soup Kitchen, P.O.
