Obituary

Mr. Joe B. "Bo" Branon, 85, of Cherry Street, Carrollton passed away Monday, October 4, 2010. Mr. Branon was born in Comer, Georgia on August 29, 1925, the son of the late Henry Thomas Branon and Carrie Mae Hagan Branon. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and retired from West Georgia College where he worked in the Maintenance Department. Mr. Branon was a member of First Christian Church where he served as a Deacon. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Joanie and Larry Hobgood of Duluth, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Milladean Branon of Carrollton; grandchildren, Brad (Amy) Hobgood, Paige (Greg) Sportsman, Amber (Dave) Salmon, Russ Branon, and five great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Branon; granddaughter, Jodie Branon; brothers, Archie Branon, Henry T. Branon, Jr, Jack Branon, Homer Branon, and sister, Clara Mae Thompson. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 2 PM at the First Christian Church with Minister Dwayne Hicks officiating. Pallbearers will be Brad Hobgood, Russ Branon, Dave Salmon, Greg Sportsman, Mark Adams and Mike McGee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 6 to 8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Christian City Assisted Living, 7300 Lester Rd., Union City, GA 30291 or Angels of Hope, 1605 Vernon Rd. Suite 1000, LaGrange, GA 30240. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens with the American Legion Post #143 making the flag presentation.
