Jo Ann Crowley Reynolds died peacefully on March 12, 2015 at Tanner Medical Center with family by her side. She was born in the same hospital on March 4, 1932 and was the only child of James Orion (J.O.) Crowley and Opal Maynard Crowley, both of Carrollton. Jo Ann attended school in Carrollton and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1949. She attended West Georgia College for two years following high school and transferred to The University of Georgia. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, graduating in 1952. Jo Ann was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Her first teaching position was at Oconee Street Elementary in Athens where she taught 2nd grade for two years. On December 27, 1953, she married William Alan Reynolds, Sr. (Bill), whom she met in Athens when he returned home to finish his education after the Korean War. They moved to Cordele, GA for 1 year after Bill completed his degree. They returned to Carrollton where Jo Ann was a proud housewife and mother. Jo Ann was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Carrolton, where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was an active member of several bridge clubs, the Birthday Club, and the PUGs Red Hats. Her love of education and teaching continued for many years at College Street Elementary School and for six years as a Kindergarten teacher at the First United Methodist Church. After teaching, Jo Ann was owner of The Flower Cart in Carrollton. Always a volunteer, Jo Ann was a Girl Scout Troop leader, Cub Scout leader, room mother, her son's sport teams volunteer, March of Dimes volunteer and a member of the Tri Delta Alumnae Chapter. She served as the 1950's Chairman for Tri Delta's recent Capital Campaign at UGA. Jo Ann was an enthusiastic Southern hostess and had a zest for travel. She is survived by daughter Becky Reynolds who lives in Athens, GA; son Alan Reynolds who lives in Clarkesville, GA with wife Laura; and son Jim, who lives in Carrollton with wife Pat. Jo Ann has five grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild: Katie Truex, husband Harrison of Nashville, TN, Emily and Cody Reynolds of Clarkesville, and Griffin and Tucker Reynolds of Carrollton; great- grandson Harry Truex. A celebration of Jo Ann's life will be held at the First Baptist Church Sanctuary on Sunday, March 15. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm. Interment will be in Carrollton City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Griffin and Tucker Reynolds, Harrison Truex, David Tisinger, Dr. Jimmy Pope, Ben Skipper, Tommy Payne, and Marty Smith.
