Mr. Donald M. Drake, age 60, of Roopville, GA passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Mr. Drake was born on August 13, 1956 in Columbus, GA. He was a veteran of the US Navy where he worked as a Seabee, retired from MARTA as a maintenance planner after 20 years, and later worked as a manager at Iowa 80 Truck Wash. He obtained his Associates Degree in Business Administration from Columbus University, was a member of the Masonic Lodge #71 in Roopville, GA and was of the Baptist Faith. He loved the outdoors especially fishing and was a "Hot Rod Buff" and enjoyed working on old cars. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Patsy Drake; daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Lawrence Ratterree of Lilburn, GA; stepdaughter, Kathy Garcia of Carrollton, GA; stepson and his significant other, Chris Garcia and Rebecca Slater of Clem, GA; stepson and daughter-in-law, Mickey and Lina Mercer Garcia of Virginia Beach, VA and 5 grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Collins officiating. Pallbearers will be Ryan Kessler, Jeremy Kessler, Josh Sedan, Jeffery Wyatt, Mickey Garcia and Chris Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Steiding and Sammy Carroll. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens with the American Legion Post# 143 providing military honors.
