Obituary for Barry Bushon Dickerson

Barry Bushon Dickerson passed away in peace on July 19, 2019 at the age of 68. Barry was born in Carrollton, Georgia on September 7, 1950 to parents Jack and Elsie Dickerson.

He was preceded in death by his father Jack, older brother Kim, and mom’s second husband Luke Huggins.

Barry was a loving husband to Fatima Dickerson, proud father to sons Zeeshan and Mikail Bakht, proud uncle to Andrew (Jaime) and April Dickerson, best friend and brother to Tracy (Kim) Dickerson, and a devoted son to his mom Elsie Huggins. He was a father figure to many and had a lasting impact on many people.

One of his greatest joys was spoiling all the children in his life. A kid at heart, he was so overly generous at Christmas that Santa had a hard time keeping up. Birthdays, over the top.
Barry had a life-long love affair with DC and Marvel comic books, the Beatles, and the Georgia Bulldogs. He also loved collecting unique wood, metal, and ceramic creations which he artfully incorporated into his home, lawn and gardens. His appreciation of these objects reflects his unique and one-of-kind personality. He and Fatima’s travels were planned around stops to specific and random flea markets, antique shops, and occasional yard sales in search of these unique works.

Barry excelled at turning his outdoor spaces into an extension of his home. His backyard was like an oasis, a sanctuary, where he would attract local wildlife. Only Barry could feed some of these resident birds, fish, and frogs from his hand. This is where Barry was most comfortable and at peace; his patio, gardens, ponds, waterfalls, rock structures, arches and flora. This is where he would sit with his family and friends and enjoy nature. A walk around Barry’s home is evidence to his common skill of landscape design and gardening.

Life-time friendships were made wherever Barry went. His generosity and love of life were an attraction that few could resist. Barry had an incredible sense of humor, the best zingers, and made people laugh all the time. Barry would tell his friends if he could, in remembrance of him, to smile and he would be there.

His memories fill the room with smiles and warmth. His strength and kindness are carried on through his sons, nieces, and nephews. His bright life and beautiful memories are reminders that he will always live on through us.

According to Barry’s wishes he was cremated. A service for Barry will be held at the Almon Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday July 27, 2019 at 2:00; the family will be present for visitation at 1:00 pm. A private burial will be scheduled for a later time.

Barry will be greatly missed by his family, friends and loved ones. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/give) or any other organization that helps children in need.

Messages of condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.almonfuneralhome.com.
