Obituary

In the early morning hours of January 24, 2017, Mr. Elic Baxter ("B") Daniel finished the ultimate race. He fought the course for many years, battling and defeating multiple illnesses, with a steadfast faith to stay the course. He was often found cheering on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs on Saturdays, but sometimes pacing the floor when his Dawgs were falling behind. One of his fondest memories was of watching the game with his daughter, Lynn, to the sound of Larry Munson calling the plays. Mr. Daniel could also often be found attending to his garden and yard, which was arguably the greenest on the block. He is now joyfully tending to God's garden. Mr. Daniel, age 81, of Carrollton, Georgia was born in Carroll County, Georgia on May 12, 1935, the son of the late Garland Elic Daniel and Annie Mae Hughes Daniel. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army and was retired from General Motors Lakewood Plant where he worked in Quality Control. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, enjoying coffee with the "Hardee's Group" or making the rounds by his other various pit stops to visit with buddies. Mr. Daniel was a member of Carroll Masonic Lodge #69 F & AM for over fifty years. He was also a member of Southern Hills Christian Church where he proudly held a post passing out bulletins and giving out hugs on Sunday mornings. Survivors include his wife, Jean L. Daniel, to whom he was married for nineteen devoted years; daughter, Lynn Daniel Brown and husband, Patrick, of Cumming; step-daughter, Jodi Carlton of Carrollton; step-son, Greg Johnson and wife, Jamie, of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Dalton Brown, Dylan Brown, Abby Carlton, Aidan Carlton, Julia Johnson, and Jenna Johnson; sister, Ruby Jeter of Carrollton and a number of nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Damon Daniel, H.L. Daniel, Jack Daniel, Barron Daniel, Ruth Burns, Reba Nell Earnest and granddaughter, Heather Brown. Mr. Daniel leaves behind too many "family" members to count, who affectionately consider him an uncle, brother, father, or grandfather, including the members of his life group at Southern Hills Christian Church. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Friday, January 27 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 28 at 11 a.m. at Southern Hills Christian Church with Pastor Shannon Lovelady and Pastor Ron Boswell officiating. Pallbearers will be Pat Brown, Dylan Brown, Dalton Brown, Aidan Carlton, Kevin Jarrett, Jamey Lewis and Wilson Knott. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens with Minister Mike Wall and Pastor Dale Lovelady officiating. The Carroll Masonic Lodge #69 F &AM will provide full Masonic rites and American Legion Post #143 will provide military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Southern Hills Christian Church City Station project of which Mr. Daniel was a huge advocate and supporter. Contributions can be sent to Southern Hills Christian Church, 1103 N. Hwy 113, Carrollton, GA 30117 or online at www.citystation.org Messages of condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.almonfuneralhome.com.
