Life Legacy

Beverly Bargeron Goodwin, 78, died peacefully surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer, Sunday morning, June 3, 2012. She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Winslow Copely (Cope) Goodwin, Jr. and her parents Wyman and Elizabeth Bargeron.

Mrs. Goodwin was born, August 9, 1933, and grew up in Sardis, GA. She attended Georgia Teacher’s College (now Georgia Southern University) and graduated from the University of Georgia. She taught for 40 years in the McDuffie County, Coweta County and Carroll County School Systems. She is remembered by many former students as a dedicated, caring, and firm teacher. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carrollton and Charles’s Characters Bridge Club. Mrs. Goodwin was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and a faithful friend to many. She loved to read, travel with her friends, play bridge, cook, and shop. She always put her family and friends first, and was often described by many who knew her as a “gentle and dignified southern lady”.

She is survived by her loving daughter Gwyndolyn Bargeron Goodwin (Clyde Navarro), her adoring grandchildren, Gavin and Gia Navarro of San Juan, PR and Carrollton, GA, and her devoted brother, Robert W. Bargeron (Linda) of Evans, GA.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 6 at 11 A. M. at the Almon Funeral Home Chapel in Carrollton with burial to follow at Carroll Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at Almon Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 5 from 6 p. m. until 8 p. m.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nursing staff of 4 East at Tanner Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, the staff and nurses at Tanner Hospice, Dr. Randall Pierce and the staff at the North West Georgia Oncology Center, Dr. Lindsey Roenigk, Dr. Ariana Buchanan, and Dr. Raul Zunzunegui for their compassionate care.
