Life Legacy


Mr. Emmett Harold Borders,88, of Westbrook Road, Carrollton passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010.

Mr. Borders was born in Carroll County on February 24, 1922, the son of the late James Otis Borders and Mary Hanson Borders. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, longtime banker in Carroll and Douglas Counties, and member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Borders was a member of Masonic Lodge #69, Scottish Rite Atlanta, and Yarrab Temple Atlanta. He was a member and past President of both the Carrollton Kiwanis Club and Chamber of Commerce, Carroll County Livestock Barn where he served as Chairman of the Board and long time community leader.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Freeman Harold (Sharon) Borders of Roopville, grandchildren, Michelle Leigh Borders of Ocean Springs, MS, Clifford Harold (Donna) Borders of Carrollton, great grandsons, Zackery Harold Borders, Logan Paul Borders, great granddaughters, Kendall Leigh Borders, Anna Grace Virginia Borders, and sister, Margaret Borders Northington, and sister-in-law, Joan Borders. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Freeman Borders, brothers, James Otis Borders, Jr., Verne Hanson Borders, and great grandson, Seth Phillip Borders.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 3 at 2 P. M. at the Carrollton City Cemetery with Dr. Steve Davis officiating. American Legion Post #143 will fold and present the flag and Masonic Lodge #69 will provide Masonic Rites. Music will be rendered by Marion Webb.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Lambert, Larry Burton, James Borders, Hanson Borders, and Otis Borders Northington.

The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home Tuesday from 6 p. m. until 8 p. m.
