Obituary for Donald Ray Martin

Donald R Martin died at his home in Villa Rica, Georgia on October 17, 2017.

Don was a native of Demorest, Georgia, graduating from North Habersham High School before attending Piedmont College on a baseball scholarship. He went on to work locally for Scovill Manufacturing for many years before relocating to the Atlanta area where he took up the position of VP of Sales for YKK. Don's career was spent traveling the globe and building the US business for the company. He retired from YKK in 1992 and had been an active member of his community at Fairfield Plantation in Villa Rica where he had resided for the last 20 years.

He is survived by his daughter Donna Martin who lives in London England, his son Andrew Martin along with his wife Teresa Martin living in Stockdale, NC, his son Patrick Martin who resides in Kennesaw, GA and his grandchildren Corey, Kyleigh and Brittney. Don was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Batson Martin in 1992, his daughter Denise Martin in 2015 and, most recently, by his third wife Frances in May of this year.

A memorial service will be held at Almon Funeral Home, 548 Newnan
Street, Carrollton, GA 30117 on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 2 p.m. (Phone: 770- 832-7056).

All those attending the service are invited to meet with the family at a reception following the service to be held at the nearby First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall (3 blocks from the funeral home).

Those wishing to donate to a charity of their choice rather than giving flowers are encouraged to do so.
