Obituary for Charles D. Shirey

Mr. Charles Dale Shirey, age 56 of Carrollton, Georgia died Monday, June 5, 2017.

Mr. Shirey was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 27, 1960, the son of the late A. Opal Shirey and Ruby Shirey Wilson. He had worked in management with Lowes, Builder Station/Ace Hardware and was a member of Carroll Masonic Lodge #69 F&AM and Roopville Road Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Christy Shirey; brother and sister-in-law, Doyal and Ann Shirey of Carrollton; sister, Marion and Frank Wynn of Carrollton; sister-in-law, Tammy Shirey of Bremen; mother-in-law, Juanita George of Arkansas; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cindy and C.B. Ruddell of Arkansas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Sandy George of Arkansas and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Shirey.

The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Funeral service will be Friday, June 9 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Dr. Andrew Owensby and Rev. Bryant Turner officiating.

Pallbearers will be Dale Ross, Johnny Stair, Mahlon Lane, Truitt Haynes, Kenny Durrough and Alan Smith. Dale Robinson will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Interment will be in Carrollton City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
